چکیده

Electrical-capacitance tomography (ECT) is a novel technique for the non-invasive internal visualization of industrial processes such as mixing, separation and multiphase flow, involving electrically nonconducting mixtures. One of the most promising potential applications of ECT is the determination of the amount of gas, oil and water produced by an oil well. The principle of ECT is to place a ring of between 8 and 16 adjacent electrodes (known as the sensor) around a particular cross-section of the process vessel or pipe (which must have insulating walls in that area), and to measure all the inter-electrode capacitances. The measurements are then used to generate an image of the electrical permittivity variations (reflecting the mixture composition) inside the sensor through a suitable inversion algorithm. In this work, a new algorithm based on a set of integral equations, which are equivalent to the differential model formulation, is presented. Using this integral relationships, the problem of identifying the unknown permittivity reduces to solving a quadratic optimization problem with quadratic constraints, for the coefficients of the expansion of the permittivity with respect to an orthonormal base conveniently chosen in a Sobolev space of functions defined in the sensor crosssection. ECT and LS-SVM Based Void Fraction Measurement of Oil-Gas Two-Phase Flow

A method based on Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) and an improved Least Squares Support Vector Machine (LS-SVM) is proposed for void fraction measurement of oil-gas two-phase flow. In the modeling stage, to solve the two problems in LS-SVM, pruning skills are employed to make LS-SVM sparse and robust; then the Real-Coded Genetic Algorithm is introduced to solve the difficult problem...

Inversion of electrical capacitance tomography data by simulated annealing: Application to real two-phase gas–oil flow imaging

In this work we apply a highly optimized simulated annealing (SA) inversion method to the reconstruction of permittivity images from real two-phase gas–oil flow electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) data. We test the SA inversion method using several flow regimes generated by varying gas and oil flow rates in a test loop facility. The SA-based permittivity inversions have some advantages over...

Image Fusion of ECT / RT for Oil - Gas - Water Three - Phase Flow

The tomographic imaging of process parameters for oil-gas-water three-phase flow can be obtained through different sensing modalities, such as electrical resistance tomography (ERT) and electrical capacitance tomography (ECT), both of which are sensitive to specific properties of the objects to be imaged. However, it is hard to discriminate oil, gas and water phases merely from reconstructed im...

Electrical capacitance tomography two-phase oil-gas pipe flow imaging by the linear back-projection algorithm

Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) is a novel technology that can deal with the complexity of two-phase gas-oil flow measurement by explicitly deriving the component distributions on two adjacent planes along a pipeline. One of its most promising applications is the visualization of gas-oil flows. ECT offers some advantages over other tomography modalities, such as no radiation, rapid resp...

Two - phase oil – gas pipe flow imaging by simulated annealing

We introduce a numerically improved image reconstruction technique for imaging two-phase oil–gas pipe flows using electrical capacitance tomography, based on simulated annealing and iterative linear forward modelling. In the simulated annealing method, a permittivity image is reconstructed by minimizing iteratively an energy function related to the difference between the measured ECT data and t...
